Times Union : Loudonville woman's blanket wins awards at NYC trade show

A $269 blanket designed by Tracy Slocum of Pretty Rugged Gear received two awards at a February trade show in New York City.

A Loudonville woman's blanket creation won two awards at a February trade show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

A $269 blanket designed by Tracy Slocum of Pretty Rugged Gear was voted the "Best New Product" in a home furnishings and textiles section of the event, and later earned the "Best in Market" award.

Slocum started the company in November and designed the blanket for people who enjoy boating, hiking and other outdoor activities. It's made with half an inch of faux fur on one side and waterproof RuggedTex fabric on the other.

"To have come up with a product that I love and turn it into a business is amazing," Slocum said in a statement. "NY NOW is my first-ever trade show and to have won both a Best New Product and Best in Market Award is a perfect example of following through on something you love and making your dreams come true."
